Just like planning a wedding, hiring a wedding planner, I know also comes with a lot of questions.
As a starting point for you, gathered below are some of those most frequently asked and which I hope help.
How far in advance should we book you?
That depends on the service that will best suit you. For Multi-Day & Full Planning clients I begin the moment the T&Cs are signed and initial payment received. However for Elite Wedding Day Management I ask that couples wait until 6 months prior to their wedding date before booking.
How many weddings per year do you take on?
In order to be fully invested in each couples wedding I keep my diary limited.
Do you only work with specific wedding professionals?
No. My role as your wedding planner is to source the right wedding suppliers for your wedding. I don’t simply have a ‘little black book’ of wedding professionals; I have a huge network of talented people to delve into.

What’s the average cost of a client’s wedding?
Couples who wish to book either my Multi-Day or Full Wedding Planning service will likely have a wedding budget spend over £80K.
Do we need to sign any T&Cs?
Before I start work on your wedding you will be required to sign Wedding Terms & Conditions. Wanting to make life easy for you, these are sent electronically via Signable for both parties and Weddings By Mary to sign. Once all completed and initial payment received we’re good to go.
Do you charge for travel & accommodation?
All travel & accommodation expenses are an additional cost and an estimate will be provided within your tailored Proposal.
Do you charge commission?
With honesty at the heart of my business, for those couples planning a UK wedding I do not accept commission. For couples planning a destination wedding as commission is more widely offered and as long as it doesn’t impact my couples bottom line it may be accepted.
Are you insured?
Yes, I’m fully insured with public liability insurance.
What happens if you are ill on the big day?
In all the years of Weddings By Mary’s existence this has never happened. However, I have a trusted network of professional & experienced wedding planners on whom I would be able to call upon to step in should I be unwell or unable to attend your wedding. Your day running smoothly is of the utmost importance to me – rest assured that at under no circumstances would you ever be left without support and management of the wedding day.
Will you have a Wedding Day Assistant?
This depends on a few factors from final guest numbers, logistics of the day and if you are having your ceremony in a separate location to the wedding reception. We will discuss during your initial consultation call and include it in your tailored Proposal with the final decision made around 4 weeks prior to the wedding.
We’re looking at several wedding planners, how do you feel about that?
Actually, I wouldn’t expect anything less. It’s all about finding not only the right wedding planner for you but also someone you feel totally comfortable with. Building relationships and trust with my couples is immensely important – we’ll be working together for a long time, and you need to feel the personal connection as well as the professional expertise. Just remember to ensure when looking through Proposals you are comparing like for like.
How do supplier payments happen when working with you?
You will sign all contracts with wedding suppliers and all payments will be made direct to them. I will ensure you know when payments are due and will keep a track of your wedding budget spending.
Do you plan destination weddings?
With an increasing number of couples wishing to head to sunnier climes, I can plan your destination wedding. Well, the world is our oyster so let’s go explore it together!
Do you plan parties as well as weddings?
