Searching for a Wedding Planner

Although having made Bermuda their home. K & J knew they wanted to have a traditional English wedding.

In the heart of the beautiful the Essex countryside.

Once securing the wedding planning service of Weddings by Mary plans for their wedding began in earnest.

Already an advocate of Zoom pre-pandemic, meetings were conducted virtually. With a 4 hour time difference and the couples work commitments these often took place on a Sunday afternoon. (GMT).

Working Together

The bride also managed to combine a work trip back to the UK to start the ball rolling with an in-depth planning meeting and venue site visit.

A key element was to ensure the shortest distance for guests to travel between and church and wedding venue. The perfect answer was Hutton Hall.

Guests, Bride & Groom alike merely had to walk across the road from the quaint traditional English church and into the wedding venues beautiful grounds.

With preferred caterers stipulated by the venue this simplified the search & tasting sessions during a fleeting trip were organised.

Combined with appointments for groom & usher suit hire. Wedding dress fittings. As well as importantly being able to catch up with family & friends.

Come autumn 2020 after many sleepless nights. Emails & conversations. The decision to move their summer 2021 wedding was made.

And a winter wedding was born

As it turns out, that was one of the best decisions made. Although living in Bermuda the groom not a fan of the heat loved the idea of a winter wedding.

And the bride felt that although she loved the sage green bridesmaid colours originally chosen.

Deep green velvet was what her heart truly desired.

Creating the winter theme

Combined with pops of deep reds set against the crisp white linen their winter themed wedding was a real hit. With no stone of their UK destination wedding plans left unturned. Weddings By Mary meticulously handled everything.

All whilst ensuring K&J always had the final word. From the tiniest of details to the mammoth ones. Such as sending out their wedding invitations & collating RSVPs.

And finding just the perfect shade & width of green ribbon to personally tie their Order of Services. All 100 or so of them!

The Big Day Dawns

When the wedding weekend finally arrived, being greeted by the biggest smile & gigantic hug from the bride to be.  With a massive sense of relief swept over us both that their UK destination wedding day was finally happening.

Albeit 6 months later than originally planned.

Arriving bright and early on the big day, to the sound of champagne glasses clinking and laughter flowing down the vast wooden staircase.

The hustle, bustle and excitement of the bridal preparations had begun.

Emotions always run high but when the bride’s sister rehearsed the acapella piece she & friends would be performing in church.

There was not a dry eye in the room (including hair & make up artists!)

“We both wish we could go back and relive the whole day.

Everything seemed to go perfectly and, most importantly for us, we really got to enjoy every minute of our wedding without having to worry about liaising with suppliers, the venue, the church etc.”

Hello

I’ve spent most of my life in the wedding & events industry. Helping couples in love to celebrate in style is something I adore and am hugely proud of being able to do.

At the very heart of my job is a love of people. A chance to connect with couples is one of my favourite parts. Being a wedding planner means being able to balance the detail-focused organisation and expert problem solving with the chance to have a good chat and a laugh with couples over a cuppa or a glass of fizz.
